Leading heavy equipment manufacturer Komatsu has signed a multi-year deal with Williams Racing to become the Principal Partner of the British team from the start of the 2024 FIA Formula One World Championship (F1) season.

General Motors and Komatsu will co-develop a hydrogen fuel cell power module for Komatsu’s 930E electric drive mining truck, the world’s best-selling ultra-class haul truck. GM, a leader in hydrogen fuel cell technology, and Komatsu, a global manufacturer of mining and construction equipment, will jointly design and validate the technology.

Komatsu, through its wholly owned subsidiary in the U.S., Komatsu America Corp., has agreed to acquire American Battery Solutions, Inc. (ABS), a battery manufacturer headquartered in Detroit, Michigan, U.S. Komatsu is planning to close the acquisition on Dec. 1, 2023, on the condition that all necessary procedures for the closing are completed. Komatsu today announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire GHH Group GmbH (GHH), a manufacturer of underground mining, tunnelling and special civil engineering equipment headquartered in Gelsenkirchen, Germany.

Global mining equipment and technology provider Komatsu and Vale, one of the largest producers of iron ore and nickel in the world, are working together to advance the future of underground hard rock excavation by collaborating to optimize use of Komatsu’s DynaCut mechanical cutting technology. The companies will start trialing DynaCut’s capabilities on Komatsu’s new MC51 machine at Vale’s Garson Mine in Sudbury, ON, Canada, working together to increase the pace at which the innovative technology will be available to the larger market.

To help support its customers’ sustainability targets while prioritizing safety and productivity, Komatsu will focus on “creating value together” in its 48,000-square-foot booth at MINExpo 2021, where the company plans to unveil its latest solutions for surface and underground mining operations.
